Nursing homes or care homes are places where people with various health and medical conditions live and are cared for by professionals. There are several types of nursing homes. In such private assignments, there are bound contracts for fixed periods of time, and also the duties that actually have to be performed by the nurse are clearly delineated.

In recent times, nursing homes jobs have become more popular because, as the population expands, and the life becomes more and more hectic, a high number of people are checking into nursing homes. Nursing homes nurses are in fact finding it difficult to cope with the burgeoning population in nursing homes. Hours for a nursing homes nurse are not that excruciating, though, since they usually work on rotation or shift bases. They may also have weekends off, when their place will be taken by other nurses.

For qualifying for nursing homes jobs, nurses need to have a masters degree, which is a two-year specialization course, in the nursing field of their choice. However, many licensed practical nurses are also being recruited for these jobs, just after one year of study.
